• Three options:

    • From the airport, take bus 59 eight stops to Nádraží Veleslavín and then transfer to Metro A (green) towards Depo Hostivař. Travel nine stops to the Flora metro station and then take bus 136 or 175 two stops to the Rokycanova stop, 50 meters from BRIX.

    • Take the direct “Airport Express” (AE) bus that runs every 30 minutes on the hour or half-hour to the main rail station (Hlavní Nadrazi). Transfer to either the 5, 9 or 26 trams and travel two stops to the Lipanská tram stop and walk 5 minutes down the hill to BRIX.

    • Take a Uber or Bolt for around €20-30, depending on class of vehicle and time of day.

  • BRIX is just two stops by trams 5, 9, 15 or 26 from the main rail station. Get off at the Lipanská tram stop and then cross the street and walk 6 minutes down the hill to BRIX on Rohačová street.

  • BRIX is very close to the main bus station at Florenc — about a 20 minute walk. Alternatively, take bus 133, 175 or 207 two stops to Tachovské Náměstí and walk 2 minutes to BRIX on Roháčova street.

FAQ

  • We accept Czech Crowns (CZK) and Euro (EUR) cash, Visa, Mastercard, and some digital payment methods. We do not currently accept American Express cards.

  • Yes, we offer our guests free luggage storage before check-in and after check-out in our secure luggage store.

  • We offer breakfast only to groups of 20 or more, but we can provide many breakfast recommendations, ranging from amazing hot breakfast options served by neighbourhood cafés to self-catering breakfast items available from multiple nearby grocery and convenience stores.

  • BRIX has two kitchens for guest use. On the second floor, a fully equipped kitchen includes fridges and shelf space where you may store your food; please label all items with your name and check-out date.

On the third floor there is another kitchen dedicated to use by our private room guests.

Both kitchens feature fridges, cooktops, ovens, microwaves, sinks, cookware, and dishes/cutlery.

In consideration of others, guests are expected to clean up after themselves and to leave the kitchen in the same state in which they found it.

  • Our Žižkov neighbourhood is known for its many bars and restaurants, serving almost every cuisine imaginable. Our recommendations include Mon Ami (Mediterranean), U Slovanské Lípy (Traditional Czech), Philly & Co's (Philly Cheeseteaks) and Bar Füd (American), all within close walking distance. Ask at the reception for suggestions and directions.

  • BRIX Hostel is primarily designed for adult travelers. We generally do not accommodate children under 16 unless staying in a private room with a guardian.

Children accompanying their parents are welcome to join age-appropriate events in our bar or garden.

  • With the exception of small, well-behaved animals accompanying their owners to functions or events in our bar or garden, BRIX maintains a pet-free environment throughout the hostel in order to ensure the health and safety of guests who may have health, allergy or other sensitivities in relation to certain domestic animals.

  • BRIX hostel is housed in a unique and historic 19th century Žižkov building, and while it has been extensively renovated and modernised for guest comfort and safety, the building was not designed to accommodate a lift (elevator); hence the upper floors where all of our dormitories are located are accessible only by the original stairs, which are characteristically steep and unsuitable for anyone with mobility issues of any kind.

  • As numerous studies and surveys have confirmed, Prague is one of the safest cities in the world, and is statistically safer than most other European cities. Violent crime, in particular, is very rare, and guests almost never report any security issues, even late at night.

Visitors should however be aware of the risks of petty crimes and scams — pickpockets on public transport, dishonest taxi drivers (stick to Uber or Bolt), currency exchange scams (use a bank, please!), price gouging and hidden “service charges” by restaurants in touristy areas, overpriced garnet and moldavite jewelry, and street hawkers offering tour and bus tickets are some of the many schemes used to separate visitors from their cash. Even convenience stores in tourist areas often charge 2 - 4x what stores a few hundred meters away charge for basics such as bottled water.

  • Prague is a very compact city with very efficient public transportation, so all sites can easily be reached from the hostel. The main sites located in our immediate Žižkov neigbourhoood are:

    • Žižkov Television Tower

    • Vítkov Hill and National Monument

    • Franz Kafka’s Grave

    • Riegrovy Sady Park

    • Jiři z Podebrad

    • the Armadni (Army) Museum

    • Forum Karlin

Most other main sites (Charles Bridge, Old Town Square, Jewish Cemetary, Wencelaus Square, National Museum, etc.) can be reached in 20 -25 minutes by public transport, although walking often takes only a little longer.
