Brix Hostel – Terms & Conditions

1. Bookings & Payments

  • Reservation Guarantee: To secure your booking, Brix Hostel may pre-authorise a credit or debit card prior to arrival. Non-payment or failed authorisation may result in cancellation.

  • Cancellation & No-Show Policy:

    • Standard reservations must be cancelled at least 72 hours before arrival to avoid being charged.

    • Reservations during New Year's Eve (typically 28 December–1 January) require a minimum stay of 4 nights. These bookings are pre-charged in full, are non-refundable if modified or cancelled less than 30 days before arrival, and are fully charged in case of no-show.

2. Check-In & Check-Out

  • Check-in: from 15:00 (3 PM). Late check-in may be possible upon request.

  • Check-out: by 11:00 (11 AM).

  • Minimum Age: Guests less than 18 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, or have written parental permission, in order to check in.

3. Deposits & Fees

  • A refundable cash deposit of 200 CZK or 10 EUR is required at check-in to ensure return of keycards, padlocks, towels or other items provided to the guest.

  • City Tax of 2 EUR or 50 CZK per person, per night (up to 60 nights) applies and is payable at check-in. Guests presenting a Czech ID with a permanent address in Prague are exempt.

  • Parking: Through an informal arrangement with a nearby business, Brix provides guests with access to an enclosed self-parking facility located less than 100m from the hostel. Charges for this service are established by this business but have typically been lower than other area alternatives.

4. Guest Conduct & Restrictions

  • Pets are not permitted anywhere in the hostel.

  • The property is strictly non-smoking, with smoking permitted only in the hostel garden.

  • Burning of candles, incense or use of open flames of any kind are similarly strictly prohibited throughout all guest dormitories and accommodations.

  • Stag/bachelor or hen/bachelorette parties are prohibited. Brix Hostel reserves the right to refuse or cancel such bookings.

  • Guests using hostel kitchen facilities are expected to clean up after themselves and to leave kitchens in the same orderly state they found it in.

  • Guests may store their perishable food items in hostel kitchen refrigerators but must mark all food items with their name and check-out date using the provided labels; any unmarked items are subject to disposal during daily cleaning. Non-perishables stored on kitchen shelves should be similarly marked in order to avoid being discarded.

  • Storage, consumption or disposal of food items in dormitories is prohibited.

  • Any personal hygiene items, toiletries other guest belonging left unattended in guest bath/toilet facilities will be discarded during daily cleaning.

  • Guest belongings should be kept in guests’ personal lockers, on guest beds, or on provided clothing hooks. Any personal items left on dormitory floors, window sills or other common areas are subject to disposal by cleaning staff.

  • Guests are expected to maintain good personal hygiene, and to avoid otherwise creating unpleasant or offensive odours by leaving dirty laundry or other sources of mould, mildew, fungus or items causing offensive smells in any dormitory or other common area. Guests may be required to shower, launder clothing or other items or take other corrective measures if deemed necessary by staff.

  • Any guest consuming alcohol to the point of being sick is expected to clean up as necessary,

  • The hours between 22:00 (10pm) and 7:00 (7am) are designated as Quiet Hours; all guests are expected to respect others by avoiding unnecessary conversation, playing of music, games or other electronics without headphones, or otherwise creating noise or disturbance in any dormitory accommodation during these hours.

  • Guests need to be respectful towards other guests and their reasonable expectations of security and peaceful enjoyment of hostel facilities at all times; any guest causing others to feel uncomfortable, fearful or insecure may be immediately removed from the premises if — by staff exercising their own independent judgement — it is deemed necessary to maintain a secure and tranquil environment. In such circumstances no refunds or other compensation will be due.

  • Failure to observe these restrictions and conduct themselves in accordance with these requirements may be subject to corrective measures applied by hostel staff at their sole discretion. This discretion includes the authority to impose appropriate cleaning or repair charges on the guest, and to collect these charges immediately. The minimum such charge payable in such circumstances is 150 EUR.

5. Children & Age Restrictions

  • Children are not accepted at the property. See check-in requirements above for details on age restrictions.

6. House Rules & Safety

  • Staffed front desk hours may vary; contact in advance for late arrivals/early departures or special arrangements but check-in/check-out is possible at any time.

  • No curfew — guests may come and go freely.

  • Safety measures include smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, carbon monoxide detectors, fire/security doors, electronic locks and video surveillance except in dormitories and bathrooms.

  • Please note: rooms do not have elevators — guests should be prepared for stairs.

7. Amenities & Services

  • Free Wi-Fi is available in rooms and public areas. A computer for guest use is available in the lounge; documents may be printed on request in reception for a €0,10/A4 page.

  • Free drinking water, coffee and tea is available 24/7 in the self-service coffee station located in the lounge.

  • Common facilities include a bar/lounge, garden/terrace, arcade/game room, library, shared kitchen, laundry service, and luggage storage.

  • Daily housekeeping and provision of bed linens and towels are included.

  • Guests may leave luggage in our secure baggage store prior to check-in/after check-out for up to 24 hours free of charge.

  • Small high-value items (laptop size or smaller) may be given to reception for secure storage in the safe.

8. Liability

  • Brix Hostel is not responsible for loss of personal items; lockers are available but use is at guest’s own risk.

  • The hostel is not responsible for events beyond its control (e.g., acts of nature, theft, guest negligence).
