Who?

Far removed from stuffy record labels, Gorillaz invites you to a never-ending party where chaos reigns supreme. As the ingenious first-ever ‘Virtual’ band born in the ‘90s, Damon Albarn, lead singer of iconic band Blur and Jamie Hewlett, the artist responsible for the cult comic Tank Girl; together they forever revolutionised Hip-Hop, Pop & Electronic music with their animated protagonists 2-D, Murdoc, Russel & Noodle.

Why?

With so many sounds perfectly curated into one album, the Gorillaz have amassed a cult following lasting over 20 years. Each track released by the capricious band exhibits a sense of pure joy and irreverence. One can only imagine how the band started: sitting around after a drunken binge all those years ago thinking of a fun one-time project featuring four animated characters. They’ve come a long way since then, collaborating with artists of all genres, elevating unknown talent and giving them a platform to connect with more fans, thus diversifying their own audience.

Gorillaz set an example to both BRIX and the world by uniting anime, hip-hop, electronic, pop and film fans together under one big, ever-changing colourful umbrella. Not unlike a palm tree on a Plastic Beach …
